For camera actors, each different headshot look can capture the feel of the actor in a different TV or film role. Since most online submission sites allow multiple uploads, the opportunity to show off your range online is too good to pass up. But throwing on a lab coat and stethoscope or a pair of goofy glasses isn't all there is to it. So what makes a good character shot?

Experienced actors often come to a shoot with very specific ideas in mind. They know which kinds of roles they audition for most often, so they come with a plan to help directors imagine them as that character type.

Demand for these photos has increased steadily - so much so that a complete array is a must for those who wish to compete nationally. I get lots of questions about this topic, so I wanted to share some of my favorites, and some thoughts.
